The doorbell rang. Weird...

Chris' Dad arrived and we had lunch ( the day before's soup). The the bathroom fun began. They had just started glueing/hammering the wainscoting to the wall when, *gasp* the doorbell rang. This doesn't happen very often, so I was quite surprised. More, what on earth was that? So there is a whole lot of banging going on in the bathroom and outside around the roofline. The bright side being that soon water will not drain off of the roof and into the basement, but where we direct it with our extra-large down spouts. The wainscoting also looks really nice. The other cool part is that I have to go to work at 5pm so when I get home tonight everything will be done.

I have to think about something good for dinner and then a snack for work during my break.

I really should have had a nap this afternoon.

-Off to forage for food.

nosey parker

I should really mind my own business. but... Curiosity is in my nature.

Chris is painting the bathroom. I am not helping, I should be doing somethign else. I'm not, not yet at least.

I'm going to make ham and bean soup and do laundry. Oh, and tidy a bit cause Chris' dad is coming over tomorrow for four days to help get odds and sods done. Such as, put up wainscoting in the bathroom and the mouldings, toekicks and backsplash in the kitchen, and possibly crown moulding in the kitchen as well

I started knitting my mom an afghan. So far so good. It's squares that you stitch together at the end, you also learn a lot of knitting technique as you go.

Chris let Shadow out when we got home from shopping. Barely 5 minutes later I was picking up stuff off of the coffee table and I saw him sitting on the roof of the wood well ( covers the real water well) looking all forlorn. I went around back and let him in. He only likes outside when his people are outside with him. He's just so sweet.

Ok, enough procrastination, I should go start soup, and laundry and and and.

PS: I had a strawberry waffle today for breakfast. It was heaven.

Happy Birthday to me! ( almost)

I LOVE birthdays. mine in particular I guess.
I love giving people thoughtful gifts and seeing them open them. I just like watching people open presents. I get the same joy out of mail and new stuff at work. Some might say I am easily amused.. *hrrrm.

Chris day on the 6th was good. I bought him 2 books and these white ceramic cow hooks that really look like white ceramic cow Zombies. :D I made potroast and bought a loaf of roasted garlic french bread. Oh, I also bought white chocolate cranberry cookies and brownies for dessert. Yum. he said I gave him a perfect evening. *sigh

Bathroom update: Chris sanded the walls. He has to redo a few areas that shrunk when they dried and then sand again. Then I can paint! I like painting.. it one of those sort sof mindless tasks , plus you can see what you've done so it's pretty rewarding. We didn't get much done this weekend. Partly because I think we were recovering from having houseguests, and partly because of something else.

Tomorrow at work I get cake. Well, some sort of dessert anyway. Everyone at work has someone elses birthday. Often there are treats for no reason at all. Occasionally library patrons bring us goodies too. My personal favorite was fresh sweet corn. MMM

I think we are going out for japanese food tomorrow. Other than that, I have no idea. I always want to be surprised. I want the day all planned out for me ( as long as it is something I want to do) and to get something that I wanted but didn't ask for specifically. I know... it's a lot to ask. It doesn't take a lot to make me happy. A nice dinner out with my beloved will be great too, even thought I don't get to have any singapore slings like last time we were there. :( hehe.

Till next time ...

The best reason to clean your house...

Is when your in-laws are coming over. It really does look nice though.. for a while. Infact, we actually cleaned up after dinner (gasp) and the kitchen is still clean! It's a strange thrill for me. I'm not very tidy.

So anyway, Chris' parents arrived at about 1pm. The house was 99% clean. I could have re-vaccumed, but I didn't get a chance.

We scoped out the bathroom. Dick ( Chris' dad) is installing a pot light above our shower. We are also doing major sanding, spackling, painting, crown moulding installation, wainscoting on the lower half of the wall and possibly a new toilet. Oh, not to mention the new light fixture and new faucet we bought way back when all this renovation stuff started.

It will be great when it's all done. Good thing someone came that can actually finish a project. I don't know if we ever would have... at least anytime soon.

Ok, I'm sleepy.. Tomorrow is a busy day. I'm going to read a bit of Pam Anderson's trashy novel for a while before bed.

drinking and blogging is fun.

my my....

Chris' birthday tomorow. He's that age... before 40... but too close for his own comfort. :D

I wouldn't trade it.

I like the new modest mouse. Even though it is so mainstrean it gets played on the radio. I'm trying to be an adult. I loved them in college, nowI get to repurchase all the music I loved when I was um.. was with my Ex. Why should I miss out. I will say one thing. Thank you Eddy ( steve's brother) for being cool and working at that kick ass record store in Vancouver. He gave us the first Modest Mouse Cd in first year university.

An odd fact. I find myself closing my eyes a lot. In a savouring sort of way, acknowledging the fact that I am an adult and time is zooming past me in a unnaturally fast way. STOP!
STOP STOP! god damn it.

It really doesn't work. I can yell all I want.

What can I say. I got a second chance. I LOVE, and all I fear now is losing the best thing ever.

To everyone: hold onto those you love. Tight. you just never know...

Sorry for being so blah. Blame the damn booze! I'll post more emotionless crap later. It's supposed to be nice this weekend. I'll talk about planting bulbs and working outside.

*thrilling.

I'm just glad Chris is home.

I have nothing interesting to say...

blah. The forecast called for sun. They LIED! It was hard to get things done. Plus with Chris away I sort of sulk arounf the house all out of sorts. I don't know what I would do without that man. Frightening.

I didn't plant my bulbs. I watched 3 movies today and did a lot of knitting. the muscles in my hand are going to be so strong. That is, if there are indeed muscles in the hand. * I wonder. I put some old trim prieces in the attic. They were in the bathroom and have these 3 inch nails sticking out of them.. I had visions of the cats impaling themselves. They have been sitting in there for at least a month. Chris and I both seem to have some trouble with follow through at cleaning.. me a bit more I think... I vaccumed and moved a plant. I'm not happy about where it is...

Bill Clinton and Jake Gyllenhaal both phoned my house and left messages telling us to vote. I thought that was pretty cool. I saved them both. I really admire Clinton, and Gyllenhaal is in one of my favorite movies "Donnie Darko". If you ever get the chance. Listen to the song Mad world from the soundtrack. It was a moment... you know, freezing a moment in time, forever cementing a song in your memory. Whenever you hear it.. you remember that time. Mostly it's life moments, but I can think of 2 movies that have had songs that made me stop. The other was in Pleasantville where they use Fiona Apples cover of Across the Universe.

I think too much.

4 more years. Perhaps I should start going to church.
