Sunday...

Iris loves the cats. She shrieks when she touches them, usually the touch is grabbing fistfuls of kitty hair. I am a bit surprised at how patient they are with her. Lady mostly avoid her, but she does that to us too if we come at her suddenly. Bob is so old I think he really has no idea what might happen and he just sits there while she makes these gleeful noises and pulls on his ears or handfuls of hair from his body. He will sit next to her and rub his face against her hand, the old man is attention starved. He can take the child's rough love. Shadow is a cross between the two, he occasionally rubs up against her, marking her as if she were a grown ups leg or a piece of furniture. She will grab his tail and he will simply move out of her reach and meow at her as if asking her to please not to that.. He's trying to sleep. She likes to grab at their paws, Bob has no front claws so it's a non-issue, but Shadow has very long, sharp claws and he never swats at her. He is a gentle guy, she is his baby too.

I've been having some work drama. Right now it seems pretty good though, so I'm not going to jinx it be rehashing it either in my head or in here. I will not listen to second hand information, I will not over think -- This is my new mantra. I have a six day week coming up, all on desk. I say.. Bring it on! I'll be tired, but Hopefully I'll be able to get some things done in the down times... If there are down times.

Iris can crawl backwards. She is working on going forwards. She has two teeth and may be working on the top front ones. She is learning how to manipulate her body to make it do the things she wants it to do. It's really neat to watch. She is still not sleep as well at night as we would like. Or napping during the day for that matter. It's not consistent and this is what is the hardest for us. She's amazing. Wondrous really. Children are such a mystical thing... Everyday is something new. I'm still in awe, even through all the trying moments. I still don' t want anymore... But this one we have is great.

so....

I've been really busy at work. We did interviews and hired someone who resigned a week into training. That's ok.. I'd rather not have someone keep at something they know they would hate, especially after we spend a lot of time training them. So... we called our second chioice and are awaiting her reply.. should be today. Best case scenario: She says yes.. I would love to come work with you even though I was your second choice... and will start on Monday. Worst case scenario is that she says no and we have to advertise, do more interviews and train again. Tis owuld be at least another month and a half of my poor over worked circ team doing way more than they bargained for. Go team go! Anyway.. here's hoping for door number one.

On the bright side I bought my first Coach bag! It's a dark purple suede satchel handbag with black leather trim. I thought it was going to be bigger... like big enough for files.. My minds version of the dimentions were really skewed from the actual size. The measurements were true.. I just was being a retard.

Chris has an appointment on Thursday with a dermetologist to have them look at the growth on his lip. He hopes that they will just cut it off there.. as do I. If not, hopefully they can get him in before May 19th, which is when he has an appointment with a plastic surgeon to get it removed and biopsied. Fingers crossed.

On the garden front my daffodils are out, tulips are budding, but not open yet and crocus' are done. I guess I needed some fertilizer or something because a lot of my daffs didn't bloom at all and so far the tulip flowers seem really anemic. The Iris' I planted last fall for the new baby at all coming up I think, and the daffodils I planted in like November are coming up too, they are just quite a bit behind the second year ones. So the blooming season is extenaded.. yay.

I finally bought running shoes, so now I have to call the gym I get a free membership to through work and make an appointment to have an orientation. NO excuses people, the scale creeps up. It's all that babies fault! I swear.. I never eat dinner before 7:30 at night, I have a sweet tooth that I NEVER had before I was pregnant. The "big" clothes I bought to bridge the gap when I was losing the baby weight are starting to fit.. instead of being baggy. Bad, bad news.

Well, this has been an awfully boring entry anout what's goin on over here. Hopefully once I get up to speed in "real life" I can get more flowery in my details.

I am still alive. I think.

We are back home. Our trip was great, albiet fast and jam-packed. The return trip blew. Bad weather in Chicago made us leave late and then get diverted to a small airport in Rochestor, MN. We spent at least an hour on the runway in the stuffy plane and then flew to Chicago. Once in Chicago we collected our luggage and the wheels on on eof the large suitcases had broken off. This made it extremely hard to carry everything since we had a baby along for the trip and had packed accordingly. The next enourmously fun thing to do, at 1:30 am was to get a cab to pick us up. There were many, many other people that had to do the exact same thing. Chris eventually go through on the cell phone that almost had a dead battery, luckily it held out till they called us back to tell us the number of the cab that was coming to get us. We spent the night at Chris' parents in Evanston and went home in the morning. A little bit of packing and a shower later I went to work.

I have worked a lot this week and done interviews to fill a place at work. I can't wait till I start working my new schedule and can actually get everything done.

My crocus' are blooming, daffodils are budding and tulips are poking out of the ground. I love spring. Except for the weather that made my return trip so not fun. Incedently, Iris was a great traveller. She also seemed to improve the day of everyone we came across along the way. She is beautiful, she has a tooth, she can crawl backwards.
