Knows how to party...

Iris has molars. Two shiny new molars hard won with motrin and restless nights. She is still missing the second set on the bottom, but the molars.. they are here.

On Monday left work half an hour early to go and plant some hostas I had gotten from a lady on Freecycle. There were two large clumps and I had to divide them, then plant them. I got it done in an hour and went to get her at 5. When I got there I didn't see her in teh main room.. I thought maybe she was napping... or getting changed.. and then one of them started to sound familiar... I had not dressed her for a cold day... and I forgot to put socks on her till we were att eh truck and I was running latre.. and I figured.. oh since it's going to be in the 70's today.. It would be fine. Well.. they had her in a little boys navy blue sweatshrt and she does make an awfully sweet little boy. Her eye was tearing and a little gooey and I wondered what happened.

The next morning Chris got up with her at 5:30 out of frustration from her NOT SLEEPING. I stayed in bed for nearly an hour. He told me that her eye was all red underneath... Oh I say... back to sleep. When I got down stairs after a quick shower I saw the red... I should take her to the Doctor I guess right? Yeah.. so Appointment isn't till 11 and Daycare won't let me bring her because they think it sounds like she has pinkeye. I call in to work... "I won't be there this motning and if she has pink eye I need someone to work for me in the afternoon because she has to have been getting treatment for 24 hours before they will let PInky back at daycare."
Blah blah blah...
LOng story short is that The Doctor didn't like the way the eye looked and prescribed antibiotics. Also, a follow up appointment the next day. The next day Ibring her in and Dr. P. notices that it is red on her top eyelid and that means.. after two doses of antibiotics, that things are not better or even the same. Things are worse. So... She wants us to go to the hospital and put Iris on a IV antibiotc drip to see if that makes it better. So.. that's what we do. I call Chris at work ( I got the number out of the phonebook... I never know the cell number and I keep forgetting to put his card in my wallet.) and then I call work to say.. I can't come in for off desk and I'll need to get someone to cover my evening shift because I HAVE TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL AND HAVE MY BABY PUT ON AN IV.
Seriously. SO weird.. so surreal. I still question that it actually happened because How could things ever be anything else than ok. Things work out for me. They get better. I suppse this time they did aswell, but not without having the staff have one baby vein blow and then after I left because i couldn't take the crying they called in another nurse to hold my sweet , strong baby down so they could get the catheter, finally in her hand. Her hand, incidently, that never got the numbing stuff put on it.
So, all afternoon and evening Iris had a drip of saline and some antibiotic in her little hand. Well, really it stopped being her had after they taped her arm to a board and wrapped it up with stretchy pink tape with purple hearts. Then it was girlie baby club.
Things looked better in the morning and after a couple more doses of teh antibiotic they unhooked her and let us all go home. Glorious home. She looks better and she is happy and running around the very, very cold house. ( go to the hospital one night and someone turned on the winter.)

To be continued...
