I remember ...

Riding the t-bar up the ski hill with my friend Sara.  We were singing Milli Vanilli's Blame it on the Rain at the top our lungs. Occasionally we changed the lyrics to  blame it on the cold, or the snot... We must have been 12, maybe 13... I can't remember. Nightskiing, it was so thrilling. Not being around my mother and zipping around on skis with my best friend in the dark. I remember laughing, chilled and breathless.

Sara was my best friend from kindergarten till the 10th grade.

Isn't it weird the things you remember. The sort of cool thing is that once you start you begin to remember all sorts of other things. I wonder if I should be trying to write it all down before I forget everything. Perhaps I'll change the blog to an "I remember" blog. Or not... might just be a nostalgia thing today. My memory may not be that good.

I think it's been a really long time since I laughed like that. Dizzy, sore face and stomach laughter. I want that back!

~~~
We had company over for dinner on Sunday. Chris' friend Mariah, her husband and their baby. The coolest by-product of having people over in my opinion is that it forces you to clean your house. It's still mostly clean, even almost 4 days later. Am I less messy?, or does it take longer to mess up a house than an apartment. *ponders.
Now if only we would win the lottery, everything would be perfect! I am really excited about the yard though. Some plants are dying back from too much shade and it's easier to imagine how it will all come about. Still a LOT of pulling and raking to do, months of it. I sawed up a few more downed tree's today and dug a bunch burdock plants that were taller than me. The mosquito's were horrendous, it was really humid and muggy and wet from the storms early this am.
I am having a fabulous hair day.
And now for something completely different.
I have a staff meeting tomorrow at 7:30. Which means that I have to get up much too early. Lucky for me I am getting a ride so at least I don't have to try and walk. I missed the last staff meeting. I totally forgot. I felt like such an ass. Oh well, I didn't get in trouble so, no big deal. I just have to make a habit of checking my calendar thing that I keep in my purse. The thing that tells me what I have to do on each day.
Tonight at the library, just before closing, the lights started flickering. I say ghosts. Diane ( the shelver) said power surges because everyone is blasting their aircondioning. I think my theory is more fun.
Chris just informed me that we are having 93% humidity right now. Gross. The kind of weather where you feel sweaty and gross straight out of the shower. I miss the west coast. Humidity is the devil.
Chris mowed the lawn tonight. I could barely see it because it was or course, pretty dark by 9pm. However, it did *feel* shorter. I'll see it tomorrow, I'm sure it's beautiful.
New template. I like it a lot more. Much more what I was aiming for before. Now, if only I could figure out how to do pictures I should go see how that fotolog site you other people use. I doubt I really need to post more than a picture a day. Especially since I usually don't even blog more than once a week.
On that note. I am going to try and sleep in the hot, sticky humid bedroom. Ahhhh , Wisconsin. If a tornado doesn't get you, the mosquito's will.
ciao.
Give the girl a saw
And she cuts down the backyard.
I really do go a little crazy with the bow saw. It is fairly effortless, I was born to be a lumberjack. Of course, since I've cut down so many trees I now have to deal with the mess. Tree's down all over with their shriveled leaves all brown and crispy. Chris helped me ( I watched, he did the work) get a log down to the edge of the yard so now I have been dragging the downed tree's over to the log and sawing them into firepit sized pieces. Two piles, one for logs and the other of small limbs and crunchy leaves. It was so humid though, and I was a bit dehydrated from the previous nights vodka and not enough water.
We really should be out picking the ripe black raspberries before it rains. The impending storm is of course why it is so humid today.
There was a dead chipmunk in the grass today. Not sure how it died. It's eyes were open and I crouched and watched it for a while. So peaceful, it had birdseed spilling out of its chubby cheeks. Odd. Chris said he saw a mink in the yard, maybe that got it. Or one of the many neighbourhood cats. It didn't appear to be marked.
Today is a wasted day. We are both kind of off today. No energy, queasy and tired. Sucked into watching the Style Network. They show E True hollywood stories now. It is like crack. I'm so fascinated with biographies lately. I'd like to write a book. It's so not going to happen. Most of the idea's I have a fleeting and don't get written down. I also tend to ramble... Did you know? ( heh)
Well, this must be the most boring entry to date. Just killing time till an online friend shows up. We have a date for a long overdue chat. She hasn't shown up yet.
I think I'll go away now.
